For the last year, our local Dr. Ambedkar statue has been surrounded by rubble and faced by a 14-foot block of blue tarp.
He’s the second most important figure in Indian politics. He wrote the constitution. He led the untouchable rights movement. He wears awesome glasses.
Well, this morning some kids took down the big blue tarp, and would you believe what’s underneath?
That’s right, another statue of Dr. Ambedkar! Sadly, this wasn’t the official unveiling… that’s blocked by a fierce battle between Congress, the BJP, and local thugs. They were just giving him a mopdown. But hopefully we’ll always see our double-/triple-Ambedkar soon!
